Harley in the field

Standard poodles are exceptionally smart, athletic and excel in all kinds of training.  The breed originated in Germany as a water retriever. The “Poodle clip” was designed by hunters to help the dogs move through the water more efficiently. The patches of hair left on the body were meant to protect vital organs and joints which are susceptible to cold.

The Poodle can accommodate to nearly any size living quarters, though they should live inside with their family, not be left outside in a yard alone all day.  Their hypoallergenic coats may reduce allergic reactions, and do not shed, but  they require regular professional grooming.

The Poodle is an active breed and requires daily exercise.  They are happiest with a job to do, and enjoy working with their people in any activity you may choose, including hunting/hunt tests, obedience, agility, tracking and therapy work.  Please contact me to discuss whether a standard poodle is the right breed for you and your family.

    Hi Paddy,
What a great website you have created. It is good to see you are getting back into breeding Standard Poodles. The breed needs breeders like you who pay attention to both the phenotpye, genotype and temperament of the dogs they breed. I love the kennel name you chose also.

Best of luck in this endeavor.
